Occupying 36 rack units, the PTX5000 can be configured with up to eight FPCs, each capable of connecting two PICs that support a variety of network media types. The PTX Series architecture cleanly separates control operations from packet-forwarding operations, eliminating processing and traffic bottlenecks while enabling the Converged Supercore router to deliver extreme performance for both IP and MPLS.
The PTX5000 offers integrated 100GbE coherent dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) interfaces with optical transport network (OTN) framing at industry-leading densities.
